Intelligent Much?

So I got a great e-mail from my friend Carmen Lowry the other day. In it she told me that her daughter, Jaycie who is Isabelle's friend, has learned to ride a two wheeler!  I told Isabelle about it and this is how the conversation went......

Me: "Hey Isabelle, guess what?"
Isabelle: "What?"
Me: "Jaycie can ride a two wheeler all by herself!"
Isabelle: "WOW mom...Jaycie is sure Intelligent!"
Me: *thinking did my 4 year old just use the word Intelligent in a proper sentence?* "Your pretty intelligent too honey, I bet if you tried you could learn to ride a two wheeler in 3 days!"
Isabelle: "Ya mom I guess I am intelligent but I don't think I could do it in 3 days.....(thinking)....maybe 4......"

WHAT A KID!

4 going on 18...YIKES!

SO I know I have said it before but sometimes it really seems like Isabelle is 4 going on 18~ She is very smart and every once and a while I get a tiny glimpse at what the teenage years are going to bring for me and when that happens.....not gonna lie, I feel a bit nauseous. Here she is giving out some attitudy fruddy the other morning because I wanted to take a picture of her always so crazy hair... In her defense I do take a lot of pictures so she has a right to be annoyed of me and the camera sometimes. Also it was right after she woke up and she's already not much of a morning person. So here it is....I'm sure you can feel the attitude too just by looking at the pictures! However we still love her to bits :)

Recovering Nicely!

So about 2 months ago our back field caught on fire! Someone (our yards men) through a cigarette butt over the back fence early one Sunday morning and, since things were so dry, the whole field lit up! It just kept on burning because the first fire truck they sent out go into an accident on there way and 7 people were taken to the hospital. We found out afterwords that one person actually died...so sad.  Here is what the field looked like shortly after the fire....it's still smoking as you can see....

It is now two months later and I am AMAZED at how quickly things are back to normal "out of control" Field grass......Here is a picture of the same field I took the other day....

This is a picture of my cement fence in the back and as you can see the Grass is WAY taller than the actual fence itself.....Not bad recovery time i'd say! We have had quite a bit of rain and I'm sure that's helped too :)

Isabelleism......

This is a good one...little turkey she is way to smart for her own good sometimes!

Isabelle: "Hey mom guess what?"
Me: "What?"
Isabelle: "I Lost something..."
Me: "What?"
Isabelle: "My Manners!"
Me: "Well you better hurry up and find them!"
Isabelle: "Nope mom, I can't. They will come back when they want to.....or maybe they won't come back EVER. I don't know....we will just have to wait and see I guess."
Me: "super."

Moms best guess? ~they will come and go as it deems important to her over the next few days, should be exciting!~ Like I said....little turkey!

Play Dough FUN!

So my mom has the best play dough recipe ever. I remember playing with it all the time as a kid and now I LOVE to make it for my kids. It's the quickest way to keep them busy for a good hour or more! They love to pick their own color and "tool" of choice from the kitchen drawers. Here are the kiddos watching the whole process and anticipating the great time ahead!
One of the best things about this recipe is it is so cheap and quick to make. We just keep it in the cupboard in leftover containers to re-use over and over again...until we get board of the colors and want new ones. At which time we just whip up a new batch!
Thanks mommy for passing on this great "keep the kids entertained" recipe on to me :-D

Here is the Recipe:
1/4 cup salt                                            - Put all ing. in a pot
1 cup flour                            - Stir Constantly over med heat till a ball forms. It will be all weird
1 tsp cr.of tarter                      and lumpy and kind of hard to stir towards the end but just keep
1 cup water                             going!
1+ Tbsp oil                           - dump it out onto a lightly floured surface and kneed till smooth.
                                             - Add a few drops of food coloring and kneed. ENJOY!

*The Cr. Of Tarter is the KEY ingredient here...it make the play dough so nice! Also it tastes gross because of all the salt so for those of you who have kids who are eaters...they won't take more than one bite! haha*

You make me feel like DANCING!

So our friends brother is in a Dance Group. Dancing is a huge thing over here in the Philippines...they all LOVE to dance and sing. This dance group was in a competition that night and needed to do a rehearsal practice. So they all come over to our street in their get ups and gave us our own private show! The dance was really good...it was to a mixture of a bunch of songs and probably lasted about 10 min or so. It was complete with a bunch of flips and crazy dance moves....At the competition that night they didn't quite get first place but they did get second winning a prize of 200peso's which equals about $4 CND!

Fathers Day in the Philippines!

For Fathers Day this year Lance said he has everything he needs and wants and we were NOT to buy him anything. So Isabelle and Scarlett decided to get creative and make him a very special card.

Scarlett (a fellow chocolate lover) spotted the card and made a bee line straight for it! She got a hold of the first Hershey kiss she saw and stuffed it into her mouth!

We had so much fun shopping around the stores looking for candy with funny words for names. Then we got to come home and have major arts and crafts time. By the end of it all we didn't even care if he liked it or not, the fun we had making it and eating chocolate along the way was enough. He did, however, ..............love it!! and we LOVE him! Happy Fathers Day to the bestest daddy around!

Isabelle made him a super duper awesome shirt in school that week and was very excited to give it to him, as you can see he was excited to receive it. It says "Dad I can't take my hands off you"

We have been having quite a few Brown outs lately as a result of the energy shortage that is going on here in the Philippines. We had a 5 hour long one on fathers day. We were all HOT and a little bit miserable especially Scarlett who had missed her nap as a result of the no a/c. We jumped in the truck a took a drive out to the mountains so Scarlett could have her nap. The fields were so green and pretty along the way.....that sugar cane growing there.......

Once we arrived back into town we were all pretty hungry so we hit up one of our favorite restaurants. It's called Palapala. You pick your fish and how you want them to cook it and then you chow down! It's so delicious and VERY fresh as you can see......

They have these huge fans there and Isabelle was having fun singing and yelling into it!

They have "good luck" Fish ponds in a lot of the restaurants here. Lance and Isabelle are checking the fish out......

We all feasted and had such a nice relaxing time as a family!

Lance with his baby's on Fathers day!

What a moment....

I just love this picture of my little Scarlett Girl! She is standing at our hotel room window, 16 floors up, looking out. I wonder what her little mind is thinking about as she looks out at all the big buildings, little cars driving around, trees, birds, ocean and more.......she's a thinker. What a precious moment, so glad I have it on film :)

Isabelleism......

Another cute little conversation today with Isabelle and I:

Me: "Hey Isabelle what do you want to be when you grow up?"
Isabelle: "Ummmm a Princess..."
Me: "Haha well that would be nice but you know you can't be a real Princess...what else would you like to be?"
Isabelle: "Ok your right mom, ummmm I choose to be a Grandma instead!! Yes that's what I want to be a Grandma!"

~too cute~

The 2nd trip to Cebu!

Well we went back over to Cebu, the Island beside us. We went for the temple dedication and to get away for a bit. It was a quick trip but we had lots of fun! We took our friend, May Ann, with us to help out with the kids. It was her first trip off our Island and she was so cute! She was having the best time seeing and experiencing things for the first time ever. It was exciting for me to live through her eyes and appreciate the simplest things..... We took the Ferry over....... Isabelle made a friend to color with....The Ocean was so pretty! Ate lots of food! May Ann was so cute, I think she STUFFED herself full all weekend. She doesn't come from a home where there is a lot of food readily available and I know she's gone hungry more than once in her life. She was so grateful and wide eyed at all the food to eat! She loved it :) Went to the Temple.... Ate more food..... These pictures are of us waiting for the ferry on the way back. We were hanging out looking at all the crabs along the pier..... Over all it was another successful trip with lots of FUN had by all!!
